Belle's Library

Finally finished! I think this is my favorite project from Perspective so far. I'm looking forward to moving on to our next project, which is car design! Looks like i'll be channeling my Detroit roots :)

Hump day!

Here's some quick updates from Monday and Tuesday!

I finished all the line work on Belle's library! The top version is my original, and the bottom was traced on a light table... this weekend i'll be working on shading and getting ready to turn it in on Monday.

In figure, we did long poses and focused primarily on hands.

and finally... I am SO excited for Frozen that all of my fun artwork seems to revolve around Anna and Elsa these days! A lot of people have requested prints of these, so I may have to look into selling! Yay!

One more thing...

I almost forgot about these! Quick doodles from this weekend... hopefully i'll be able to do all the princesses eventually!

End of the week!

It has been busybusybusy lately! Here are some updates from all my classes...

First up, Perspective! We are moving right along from 1 point to 2 point, as well as plotting shadows. Our next big assignment is to create an invented interior in 2 point. Mine is a modernized version of Belle's library from Beauty and the Beast! Above is my concept sketch for the assignment...

And this is my WIP! The different colors are objects not parallel with the room (which have to use a different vanishing point). We have a mid-project critique tomorrow, so hopefully it goes well!

A quick update on Figure... we are plodding right along with anatomy, focusing mostly on portraits, hands and feet. Here's a 30 minute pose from this week.

This is my most recent 2D design project, focusing on the use complementary colors! I really like how this one turned out.

And finally, some fun stuff... Hannah's parents came down for Parent's Weekend, and we all went out to dinner last night! We all doodled on the back of the menus- the restaurant even hung Hannah's up on the wall! (Sorry the picture quality is so bad!)

Last but not least, my super talented friend Asher brought his homemade muppet Merlin to campus this weekend... so great! (It also turns out Dan's really good at puppeteering!)

Out of the Sea

Here's my doodle of the day! I FINALLY figured out how to blend colors in Photoshop, so I went a little crazy shading this one.

detail shots...

and, just for fun, here's a quick animation showing my entire process from beginning to end!

Random Sketch Potluck

This week we FINALLY moved on from general anatomy in Figure to focusing on heads, hands and feet!
2 min gesture.

20 minute portrait session.

FEWS gestures... i'm still dorking around with different kinds of mediums, especially now that my favorite brush pen has died :(

Today we tried to go off campus and were foiled by the dumb bus system (what else can you expect from a public transportation system called SCAT?), so we sat and talked about Thanksgiving plans instead. (We're gonna eat lots and lots of mashed potatoes.)

and finally, some really old drawings... i think these were from the first week of school.

Proportion

These are the drawings I submitted for our Proportion unit in Figure!

Invented figure- front, side, and back views

My best gesture page of the unit

long pose (40 minutes) front...

...and back!

In other news, I find out soon how many of my pieces will be put in the gallery show for Ringling's open house... hopefully a few! All of my studio teachers have chosen my work to go through the jury process. It's a huge honor to be chosen as having some of the best work in each of my classes :)

Evolution of a Zombie Attack

My most recent 2D design project focused on asymmetrical balance. Created in Photoshop, this project used silhouettes of real things from on campus. Here's my sequence of edits, from my first attempt all the way to the final piece I turned in.

Happy Tuesday!

I had a rare chance to work on personal artwork tonight... so here's Elsa from Frozen. I can't wait until this movie comes out!
